LlangollenFringe Festival
As a Director of Llangollen Fringe and Curator of the Spoken Word & Literature Programme, I have the privilege of helping shape a festival that celebrates creativity, connection and community.
Working alongside an incredible team of directors, volunteers and facilitators, I curate a diverse programme of workshops, performances and creative experiences that invite people of all ages and backgrounds to explore their creativity and discover the power of words.
The 2026 Spoken Word & Literature Programme features more than twenty events across ten days, bringing together writers, poets, artists, performers and community facilitators from across Wales and beyond.
This year's programme includes creative writing, reflective poetry, spoken word performances, poetry inspired by nature, storytelling, music and poetry, grief writing, wellbeing workshops, creative planning, language and identity, community conversations, movement, family activities and opportunities for people to simply come together and connect.
Whether someone is writing for the very first time or has been performing for years, every event has been designed to be welcoming, inclusive and encouraging. My aim is to create spaces where people feel able to explore their voice, share their stories and leave feeling inspired.
Last year every workshop was fully booked, with many participants continuing their creative journey by joining Llangollen Spoken Word and my regular weekly creative writing workshops. Seeing people grow in confidence and continue writing long after the festival has ended has been one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
I also organise and host the Fringe Spoken Word Evening, bringing together established performers alongside people stepping onto a stage for the very first time. Many of these performers first found their confidence through the supportive spaces created by Llangollen Spoken Word before sharing their work with a wider audience at the Fringe.
For me, the Spoken Word & Literature Programme is about far more than workshops and performances. It is about creating opportunities, building confidence, nurturing creativity and reminding people that every voice has value and every story deserves the chance to be heard.
